Danny Kennedy, the Ulster Unionist Party`s European Election candidate, has demanded that the Secretary of State and the Government take all necessary action to support the workforce at Bombardier through the current uncertainty.
Danny Kennedy said:
'Bombardier's decision to sell its aerostructures division could have very great implications for the manufacturing sector in Northern Ireland. Today I met with representatives from Unite the Union to discuss this and have also requested a meeting with Bombardier.
“The political log jam that has been going on at Stormont now for well over two years creates a very uncertain atmosphere for companies prepared to invest in Northern Ireland and buy the Bombardier business. It is a dereliction of duty that there is not a minister in place to deal with this.
“I call upon the Secretary of State in conjunction with all local political parties to support and defend the jobs and the livelihoods of everyone affected by this potential sale. We as a party pledge ourselves to doing whatever we can to defend skills, jobs and communities.”
