03/01/2010

JoAnne DobsonUlster Unionist candidate for the up and coming by election in Craigavon Jo-Anne Dobson has outlined her party position on policy issues saying that the UUP is listening, supporting and delivering at local and national level.

"I am committed to listening to local people to make politics work, I will be supporting the regeneration of Lurgan town and I will be helping to deliver where it really matters in Craigavon."

"The UUP believes rural communities are the backbone of Northern Ireland. We want to see strong family farms take their place at the heart of a vibrant rural economy."

"We believe in making Stormont really work for the people of Northern Ireland, not the do-nothing DUP carve up."

"The UUP is committed to putting Northern Ireland at the heart of the Union, fully involved in mainstream politics."

"The UUP has pledged to end the scandal of double jobbing - it is completely impractical for politicians to be MLA's and MP's at the same time. This is something my colleagues are continually working on."

"We want to build on the best of our education system and oppose the chaos and division Caitriona Ruane has brought to our schools.

"We believe in strong, responsible, accountable government and we are determined to push for and deliver the changes which ensure that devolution really will make a difference for the better."

"Along with my colleagues in the Northern Ireland Assembly, in Westminster, in Europe and at local level - we will strive to ensure that we can create an inclusive and better Northern Ireland - a Northern Ireland for all of us."
