Next step for Causeway project

Robert CoulterUlster Unionist MLA for North Antrim, Rev Dr Robert Coulter, has expressed his delight that the new Giant's Causeway visitors' centre is to go ahead "at long last".

"I am just delighted that the Giant's Causeway is to receive a long-awaited overhaul, which will only serve to enhance its world class reputation.

"It is a terrible shame that this development has been delayed for so long, when it is one of Northern Ireland's premier tourist attractions. However, at long last we are to see progress made, and that is something to be welcomed.

"I commend that National Trust on its plans to protect the 3km stretch of coastline. The Causeway is a precious gift that we must protect - that has to be our priority.

"I look forward to the completion of this innovative, forward-thinking project, which will serve to educate as well as to preserve."
